BOOTCAMP EXCLUSIVE: Visualization and Directing Techniques
This workshop is exclusive to participants in the Yukon Filmmaker Bootcamp.

August 23 & 24 – 10am to 4pm
This workshop provides an immersive experience in writing and directing, enabling participants to leave with a tangible plan for their projects and the confidence to take their project to the next stage.
The course will cover director’s pre-production work including previsualization and the creation of a lookbook, scene analysis, storyboarding, shot listing and the creation of camera maps and schematics.
Instructor: Sam Coyle
Sam Coyle is a film director, writer, and producer celebrated for selecting bold and unconventional projects, she is dedicated to crafting unique narratives that spotlight strong female perspectives. Her work challenges societal norms and shines a light on the extraordinary aspects of the underrepresented. Her films are infused with empathy and passion, blending a sense of naturalism with a subtle, dream-like quality that delves into the characters’ minds, offering a deeper understanding of their perspectives.
Originally studying as an actress at the HB Studio in New York City, she accesses this training through deep exploration with the actors and finding complex human behaviour and relationships in the writing of her scripts.
Sam Coyle is best known for directing two seasons of the award winning digital series ‘Avocado Toast’, nominated for a Canadian Screen Award (Best Director & Best Digital Series). Sam also directed two seasons of the evocative queer reality dating show ‘Dating Unlocked’ which won the Silver Telly Award for Best Web Series. Both series are now streaming on OutTV and Amazon Prime. Sam’s directorial debut feature, ‘Hazy Little Thing’ premiered at Canadian Film Fest and was sold to Super Channel. Sam has just wrapped production on an erotic thriller, ‘Overexposure’, her fourth feature with MarVista Entertainment for streamer Tubi. Sam is currently in development on her next feature ‘On Your Knees’ with co-writer Erin Carter.
