SPYA Training: Production Manager Intro Workshop

A 2-hour workshop led by Production Manager Ariel Yang, exploring the role using the Yukon feature ‘From Me To You’ as a case study.

Production Manager is one of the most instrumental roles in the success of a film shoot. Led by Production Manager, Ariel Yang, this workshop provides an introduction to the responsibilities of the role and how to do it. Using case studies, including the Yukon feature ‘From Me To You’, you will learn the key components of production management. If you’re looking for a solid introduction to budgeting, location scouting, setting up shooting schedules, coordinating crew, and other responsibilities of managing the day-to-day business of the lead-up and execution of a production, this workshop is for you.

Ariel Yang (IMDb) is an independent Film and Television Producer specializing in development, packaging, financing, and production. With a background spanning studio-backed comedy TV series and independent feature films, Ariel partners with writers and directors to shape distinctive voices into culturally resonant, market-positioned projects built to move from concept to screen.

Formerly a Creative Producer at New Metric Media — the studio behind Letterkenny (Crave/Hulu) and Shoresy (Crave/Hulu) — Ariel oversaw a development slate of live-action and animated series targeted across domestic and international markets. Producing credits include Nobody Sees Me Like You Do starring Eric Osborne and Joelle Farrow; Mother Of All Shows starring Wendie Malick; Paige Darcy starring Andrew Phung; and the Canadian Screen Award–nominated digital series Gay Mean Girls, streaming on KindaTV.

Previously a Content Executive at WarnerMedia under Cartoon Network, Ariel was an instrumental organizer of CN Imagination Studios, a creator-focused talent incubator. They have spoken and represented Canada at The Gotham Week Project Market, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, CMPA, TIFF, Whistler Film Festival, and the Banff World Media Festival. Ariel has also served as a juror for the Rogers-BSO Script Development Fund, Creative BC Equity & Emerging Development Fund, and Reelworld E20. A graduate of Toronto Metropolitan University’s RTA School of Media, Ariel is developing a slate of IP-driven features and original series that align bold creative vision with disciplined execution.
