Producing 101

With an emphasis on collaboration, this course will give participants a strong understanding of the role of the Producer from initial idea development to final distribution.

Geared towards the production of short narrative films, the course  will cover the basics of production management and teach participants to break down scripts for budgeting and teach participants how to analyze a script, identify potential production challenges, and develop a basic production plan. 

This workshop will also touch on contract negotiations, and the legal aspects of securing rights for a project.

Workshop participants will gain skills in budgeting, an introduction to managing set, crew, and production issues, and an overview of leadership skills essential for producers.

Instructor: Ingo Lou

Since 2013, Ingo has produced ten feature films as well as the critically acclaimed, Leo
Award-winning television series, The Switch – Work. Love. Mortal Danger. He has additionally supported the creation of over 70 short films in mentorship and production roles, and a further 35 long and short form productions as an assistant director. Ingo presently serves as a faculty member at Capilano University’s School of Motion Picture Arts, where he teaches line producing and production management.
