Born and raised in Whitehorse Yukon, AV tech, Bass player and composer Etienne had an interest in music at an early age and decided to pick up the electric bass at the age of 16. It wasn’t long after that he was completely immersed, being a founding member of Whitehorse acts, Pro-Decibel and Hammerhead and also gigging with heavy metal act Nemesis throughout the two thousands.
Etienne studied Bass guitar, sound engineering and performance at the Contemporary Music and Technologies Program at Selkirk College in Nelson B.C. There he regularly gigged with Hammerhead and played in numerous projects, he also was a founding member of Alone Against Rome a heavy metal act that would go on to tour Canada.
After living in Montreal and Halifax respectively and touring the east coast of canada with Halifax Based band The Wax, he returned to the Yukon in 2014 with the intention of founding a funk dance band: Major Funk and the Employment, now shortened to Major Funk. He has since been doing live audio teching and home music recording and production. when he is not writing new material or playing shows with Major Funk .
Étienne is involved in every aspect of the sound industry in the Yukon. Including corporate events, live streams, radio, film and television, as well as music festivals and a multitude of other events.
In addition to doing sound, he also is well versed in live visual setups for large and small events.
Étienne’s most recent projects have been focused on post mixing audio for film and television, further diversifying his skill sets.
A northerner at heart, Étienne continues being a mainstay of the Yukon’s live events, both on the stage and behind the soundboard.
