Screen Production Yukon Association (SPYA) is looking for an experienced manager with strong organizational skills for the half-time position of Executive Director in Whitehorse, Yukon.
SPYA supports, develops and celebrates Yukon’s screen media industry. We provide professional development and marketing opportunities for production companies and Yukon crew. We offer film gear rentals to a range of productions. And we advocate for members with funding and governing bodies.
Job Description
Working under the supervision of the SPYA Board of Directors Executive, the Executive Director will undertake overall management of the organization including project management, membership support, communications, funding applications and funder reporting. The position will oversee day-to-day financial management with the support of a Financial Administrator and ongoing management of gear rentals with the support of a Technical Coordinator. The Executive Director will develop and oversee consultant contracts for project-based training and other activities as required.
Leadership
The Executive Director works closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive to development and implement long-term planning, including strategic plan development, policy development and financial/budgetary cycle planning.
The Executive Director plans for and represents SPYA in various events and meetings as assigned, including SPYA’s Annual General Meeting.
The Executive Director supports the Board of Directors and the Executive in maintaining positive, professional relations with government and non-governmental organizations.
The Executive Director oversees the annual financial and governance cycle, including budgets, funding applications and reporting and meeting any corporate reporting requirements to regulators.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, project management, leadership and business management skills. Experience with budgeting/financial management and business writing are required. Experience in a non-governmental organization and experience in the screen media or related industry are desirable.
