This workshop will explore:

- Formatting, Format, and Software:
How to write features, TV pilots, and short film scripts.
Which software to choose and why.

- Structure and Character Development:
Three acts and more, hero's journey, and building structure around commercial breaks.
Feature films, TV movies, TV pilots (drama and sitcom), and short film scripts.

- Rewriting, Development, and Production:
Getting your scripts into the right hands (even long-distance).
How to work with agents, producers, and story editors, and Option agreements.

Instructor: Born in the UK, Kat Montagu has an MFA in Creative Writing and works in the film industry primarily as a story editor. She also writes film, television and historical fiction. An award-winning screenwriting instructor for many years, Kat teaches full time at VFS and works as a story editor for Crazy 8s. In the past she has also taught screenwriting at UBC and Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Kat recently published a bestselling Amazon eBook called The Dreaded Curse of Screenplay Formatting.
