Why join SPYA?

You will become part of a professional community working together to develop work and creative opportunities, build careers, and grow the screen media industry in the Yukon. The membership includes a wide range of talented and skilled professionals in production and post-production and in creative, crew and service capacities. SPYA members are involved in producing, creating and servicing feature films, commercial videos, documentaries, series, film festivals, music videos, animations, short films, and digital productions across all genres.

SPYA is the non-profit industry association representing film, TV and media production in the Yukon. We work in partnership with Yukon Media Development to create opportunities, programs and training, and to address issues influencing our industry. As an industry association, we work collectively to make the screen media sector an economic and cultural force in the Yukon.

Who can be a member?

SPYA membership comes in two categories with different criteria and benefits. Voting Professional members are Yukon residents who have experience working in the screen media industry. Associate members are non-voting resident or non-resident members with an interest in Yukon’s screen media sector.

Professional members ($100) are Yukon residents with 2+ years experience and/or training in moving image screen-based production as crew or on a commercial basis (e.g., for broadcaster, distributor, producer, corporate clients) as demonstrated in submitted resume, portfolio or credits. professional members are entitled to a variety of benefits including member discount on the SPYA rental kit, reduced rates on training, invitations to member socials and networking events, ability to purchase short-term production insurance, industry newsletter, and more.  In addition, SPYA welcomes new and remote professional members with a reduced rate:

• First-time Professional members ($50) can join at a special rate for their first year of membership and receive all the benefits of a Professional
• Remote Professional members ($50) receive all the benefits of a Professional membership at a lower rate, in recognition of living in Yukon communities with reduced access to SPYA benefits.

Associate members ($30) receive basic benefits including access to industry news, events and training.

To become a member, complete the Professional or Associate application form below. SPYA memberships are valid from April 1 to March 31 and must be renewed annually.
